KUWAIT NATIONAL CULTURAL DISTRICT

Kuwait National Cultural District

Al-Shaheed Park Museums are significant additions to the cultural landscape of Kuwait and are part of the Kuwait National Cultural District—a project in global and cultural stewardship initiated by the Al-Diwan Al-Amiri that is unprecedented in scale and scope in the region. In addition to the Habitat and Memorial Museums, the KNCD is comprised of:

  • Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre (SJACC)—a jewel-like theatre, performance, and educational platform that opened in October of 2016.
  • Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Centre—a cultural complex in the Al-Sha’ab area on the Western shore of Kuwait consisting of 6 museums which focus on natural history, science and technology, fine arts, Arabic and Islamic sciences, space and a theatre..
  • Al Salam Palace—being restored as a heritage museum telling the story of Kuwait through the lives of its 15 rulers.

Each of these projects focuses on its own unique set of disciplines and experiences which together support the mission of the Kuwait National Cultural District.
